Christians believe Jesus doesn’t merely offer advice about life. He shows us what God is like, tells the truth about who we are and invites us into a relationship that as we choose to listen and follow him, changes how we live and how we feel inside.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus lived in the Middle East around two thousand years ago, but Christians believe He is much more than an influential teacher or prophet. He is God’s son. In Jesus, God came near to us.
Jesus welcomed people others overlooked, confronted hypocrisy, healed the sick, forgave sin and announced God’s kingdom. He was crucified, and His followers encountered Him alive again.
We believe Jesus reveals what God is like and makes a restored relationship with God possible. Knowing Him brings forgiveness and a new identity, and begins a lifelong journey of becoming more like Him.
What is a Christian?
A Christian is someone who has put their trust in Jesus and is learning to follow Him. Christianity begins with what Jesus has done for us, not with proving ourselves to God.
Following Jesus means receiving His forgiveness, trusting Him with our lives and learning His way alongside other believers. It is a relationship and a continuing journey, not simply adopting a religious label. It’s also not about trying harder. The Bible tells us that we become new creations when we put our trust in Jesus, and God, through His Holy Spirit, He gives us the power to live to please Him.
